I wasn't able to find any information on this but was wondering if this was available or at least planned to be implemented?
Can we do things like:
[if *gender field* = female]
some content for males
[if *gender field* = female AND *age field* < 22]
Young female audience
Hi kaitlyn2004, welcome to the forums! At present, you can't define conditional content in your email campaigns using Campaign Monitor, so I've added your vote for it internally. Admittedly, we don't have any imminent plans to add it to the app, but we'll certainly take this into consideration and keep you posted.
Hey CM Team.
This is actually a major problem which will get people to use competitors over you.
Especially for countries like Germany where you say "Dear Miss Smith" and can't say "Hi Bob!". They need to have the conditional statements in place. I read your suggestion to include an additional field to have the salutation per user as an extra field, but if your database already includes 2000 people you think twice before not simply changing to a different tool.
I really love CM, but I'm really struggling to decide whether to edit 2000 entries. =(
I have to agree with the comments in this thread. Desperately needing dynamic content/conditional statements inside the email templates. Any thoughts as to if/when this will be available?
If it isn't possible now, it would be great in the future to be able to add in a conditional statement for something like the webversion.
some other content
Then we could include a special message and a link to subscribe to the newsletter that only displays in forwarded emails. (If that is possible now, please let me know!)
The addition of conditional and dynamic would be amazing!
Thanks djwhisky, it's certainly one for us to keep looking into! We'll certainly let you and others know if dynamic content is on our agenda soon. Thanks for piping up! :D
+1 This would save us from having to create multiple segments and multiple email versions, which is a real pain!
Thanks sryburn - welcome to the forums! I've added your vote for this internally. Sorry for taking so long to respond here :P
I would like to add a vote for conditional logic.
The best, venncreative - I've added your vote, too. As before, we'll keep you posted if this is something we add at a later date :D
+1 - Pretty core functionality for handling mailouts from larger databases.
Thanks graphicgoose - I've added your vote for this and will post updates here if we make progress on this one.
Any news on this feature? We love campaign monitor! But this feature/functionality is so important for a small country in the middle of Europe with 3-4 different languages :-).
And not only conditions for salutation but also conditions for on any text (data fields) or even whole articles. Thanks and best regards
Hi oliverweinstock, I'm sorry we don't have an update for you just yet, but we're still actively collecting feedback like yours :) I'll let our team know this is what you're after and see if improving our custom fields / adding conditional content is on the cards. We definitely haven't forgotten this one!
+1 (I think for the third time now...)
I think this should be priority #1 for the dev team. This is a HUGE limit in functionality that other services have had in place for a long time. I have a project fast approaching where if there is no announcement, I'll have to go with another ESP. :(
Is there a time frame for this? Are we talking months or years?
Hi JohnP, we're really sorry for drawing this one out for so long. Conditional content is something our team discussed with vigour over the new year, however we still don't have a firm timeline for its release. The general consensus is that we really need to give our segments a royal overhaul before we can do a job that we can be proud of.
It's always tough for us when customer projects are on the line due to one or two things about our service missing the mark. We really hope you can hang in there while we do our best to make this happen. Naturally, I'll give conditional content another nudge and keep you posted as our plans become more clear.
Sorry for not having definite answers here, but we will do our best to prioritize carefully in the coming months.
+1 on adding this feature! :)
With pleasure, Stephen@DC - to make things clear, we are planning to give conditional content a solid shot in the year ahead. Hopefully the wait will be worth it ;)
+1 for dynamic/conditional content.
+100 (again!) :)
Hi guys, no worries at all! I'e added your votes internally and will be sure to keep making noise about this one :)
The workaround for now is to create custom fields and add the variable text in there. For instance, create an "intro" field with options: Ms, Mrs, Mr, ...
This is a real nuisance and it's a core feature for non-english speakers (if you care about us, that is).
It is being discussed for 2 years now, I think by now we deserve a reply along the lines:
- we'll do it, expect it in 2 weeks
- we won't do it, we're sorry to see you go
But please, stop "adding votes", we don't need a democracy, we need a solution. :)
Hi there Jorge, both language support and dynamic content are real tricky issues - as much as we care deeply for our customers that communicate in Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and countless other languages, we ultimately want to make sure that whatever solution we come up with is a solid one. That and we're a small team that have to be careful with our priorities, so we can't stick everything on the roadmap at once :P
Dynamic content certainly hasn't fallen off the radar and we'll do our best to keep it on there. But to be realistic, it's not going to happen overnight - that isn't a reflection on how much we care about you guys, but more that we don't have enough hands to do everything immediately :)
Hi there Jorge, djwhiskey, kaitlyn2004 and many of the eager contributors here, we're very glad to announce that dynamic content is finally available in your accounts. Using our new dynamic content tags and custom fields in your lists, it's now possible to add conditional content to your campaigns - including text, images, or even more dynamic content!
While you've likely already got a grip on how it all works, we've also got a new, comprehensive guide that explains the concepts, great applications for dynamic content and the language itself.
A huge thanks to everyone here for being so patient with us; we really hope that this update helps you send less, yet send more relevant newsletters. Naturally, we're also very happy to answer any outstanding questions you may have about dynamic content, so feel free to get in touch with our team, or post in the forums if we can help out in any way :)
