Can-Spam and opt-in


I have a quick question. I have a potential customer that is saying that in the USA, if a customer was to set up an account and had (for example) 50 email addresses (that all conformed to your anti-spam policy, or are on the 'ok list') that when you import them as subscribers, you would still need to send a confirm opt-in email.

Is this right? She is saying that it is written into the Can-Spam Act - can anyone show me where (or where not)?

That's not one I've heard before nor can I find it anywhere in the CAN-SPAM act. If they've already opted in previously your customer should be fine. You might want to ask your customer if she can point you to exactly where she read it.
